Sandbagging:

Sandbagging will not be allowed. Sandbagging will be defined as not fielding a full starting roster in an apparent effort to influence the league by increasing one’s own chances of taking a loss. Examples of why someone might sandbag: to secure a top spot in the following year’s draft or to intentionally help someone else qualify for the postseason.

Sandbagging instances will be:

  • Confirmed by a majority vote with the denominator being the number of votes submitted (not the number of coach’s in the league); we must have at least 6 votes in order to take action.

  • The voting will be considered complete 24 hours before the first game of the subsequent week.

  • In order to qualify to be brought forward for a vote, there must be an allegation and a second motion that the sandbagging instance appears egregious, excluding the benefit of hindsight. We will not disrupt the league by imposing a vote if, for example, a marginal player is benched in favor of an even more marginal player and, coincidentally, the less marginal player has a career game.

  • If instances of potential sandbagging aren’t noticed/reported in enough time to take a vote (respecting #2 above), then these instances of sandbagging will not be evaluated.

  • Sandbagging will only be considered possible if it occurs in weeks greater than 7.

Sandbagging must involve an owner not starting a player in a roster spot (not having a full roster is not an excuse) or an obvious effort involving the benching of a player in favor of a different player who is irrefutably less likely to score as much as the benched player (example benching a starting quarterback in favor of a 2nd or 3rd string quarterback).

For instances of confirmed sandbagging (see criteria above), the Commissioner will retrospectively adjust the scoring by substituting the offender’s highest current season Yahoo-ranked player (who played in the week in question) in the roster spot in question. If the offending owner didn’t start a position because the current owner didn’t have a start-able player in that position AND he had an open roster spot, then I will add the highest current season Yahoo-ranked player to starting roster of the week in question and add adjust the points accordingly.

If there is a second confirmed sandbagging occurrence in the same season for one coach, that coach’s roster will be locked for the remainder of the season and the Commissioner will substitute the best roster each week based on health, byes and Yahoo's Rankings.
